In Defense of the Ultimate Warrior
Maybe the ultimate one isn’t as crazy as we once thought.
Written by Dr. Flex Rocket-Thrower on 7/25/10

For years the Ultimate Warrior has been an enigma. His eccentric behavior, in and out of the ring, has led many to believe that he’s an unstable nut job who escaped from a mental institution years ago. Others think that he is a tortured genius, and merely struggles with his own perception of the world. And, there are some that believe he is as normal as they come, and his persona is an act he uses to keep himself a topic of discussion years after his prime. While these are all valid arguments, I believe that they are all wrong.

You see, in my life I have spent a lot of time dealing with a certain group of people. During college I worked in a facility that assisted these kinds of individuals, and I believe that my experience in this field has made me familiar with this sort of behavior. I don’t believe the Warrior is crazy. I don’t think he’s a genius either. I don’t even think he’s putting on an act just to keep us guessing what he’ll do next.

I think the Ultimate Warrior is mentally retarded.

Daria’s Sick, Sad World
One of MTV’s Finest
Written by Ebola Monkey on 7/18/10

MTV has, in its most recent years, become a sham and a mockery to its glory days. Once upon a time, MTV stood for something: music. Now, MTV is home to Snooki and Silent Library. It’s no longer about the music. But it wasn’t always like this.

When MTV first debuted, it was all about the music. It was all about finally getting to see our favorite performers find a new medium to present their art. In short: it was the most awesome time in television. We saw the birth of the Moon Man, the death of the radio star, and video jockeys. But as it happens with all good things, MTV changed. They claim they “grew up” and changed with the times. In actuality, they started to suck at life.

Teeth
Doing for vaginas what Jaws did for sharks.
Written by The Canadian Hero on 7/14/10

Men aren’t scared of a lot of things. Think of it as perpetual job security. Need a spider squished? Call a man. Storm outside keeping you awake? Call a man. Wondering if you look fat in a dress that is obviously two sizes too small for your saddle bag hips? Call a man. It’s part of our creed. Beer, porn, Star Wars, and having no fear is the life blood of being a male homo sapien. It’s what we do.

Yet, there is one thing that all men agree scares us. That one thing that causes a primitive fear in the pits of our bellies…

The vagina.

5 Indie Artists You've Never Heard Of
Because the world seems to have its collective head up its ass about the independent scene.
Written by Dr. Flex Rocket-Thrower on 7/13/10

One of my favorite things about the people I associate with is the majority claim to love indie music. In fact one of the greatest appeals of liking indie music is the illusion that you are not “mainstream.” Most people hate the term "mainstream" and are desperate to find things that are more genuine, unique, and reflective of their experiences. The problem is that most people claim to be into indie music while they are adjusting their Nickelback t-shirts.

So to help my readers expand their indie horizons, I have compiled a list of indie acts that most people haven't heard of. So next time when your friends bring up one of these bands you can say you were into them before they were featured in an apple commercial, and you can hold it over their heads forever!

The “Superman” vs. The “Batman”
Which one are you?
Written by Dr. Flex Rocket-Thrower on 7/2/10

Men are not hard to figure out. For some reason women want to pretend that we are these dreadfully intricate problems that are in desperate need of unraveling. The truth is that we are not that complex; in fact you can pretty much boil down men into two types. Throughout history mythological creatures have always been seen as a mirror of humanity. Icarus was a symbol for the over eagerness of youth. Achilles was a representation of men who appeared invincible, but were destroyed by their weaknesses. In this modern world you need not look any further than our own mythologies for what men are like in our era.

A Story Meant to Charm the Soul
Or “How My Brother Met Googie”
Written by Ebola Monkey on 6/26/10

One of the most charming aspects of this world is our ability to experience the uncanny. It is the uncanny that brings a smile to our face, warms our bodies with riotous laughter, and offers the soul some revitalization. That’s the job of the uncanny – it makes the world so much more neurotic, so much more delectable, and oh-so-colorful.

And it is the uncanny that brings me here to you today.

Michael Jackson: The King of Pop
One year later...
Written by Ebola Monkey on 6/25/10

In the field of music, there are countless artists who will be remembered for their talents. But talent only goes so far, and sometimes it is the fashion and the dance moves and the controversy that keeps a star alive. When you step past talent and look at the “whole picture” of the artist, there is only a handful in which deserve that sort of recognition: Elvis Presley, Elton John, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Lady GaGa, Ozzy Osbourne, and Michael Jackson.

But even with that list (you really consider who is on that list – all of them own some sort of honorific title of king, queen, prince, princess, and so on and so forth), there is still only one name that stands above all others: Michael Jackson.
